Japan's newest hero: ocean 9d vs. qidaojkt 9d
Ocean is fairly new to the 9d scene, but already he has a strong record of 44 wins and 17 losses. In fact, he is currently standing as the strongest Japanese Tygem player by RP. These days you hardly see a Japanese player as the betting favorite, but consistently ocean has become the exception. There are only rumors so far as to who ocean really is, predictions that were brought up including Yamashita Keigo, Yoda Norimoto, Cho U/Chikun, etc, but no hard evidence has been brought forth. One thing's for sure though: it is nice to see the Japanese flag waving for once.
This is a game ocean plays against qidaojkt, an ambiguous Chinese 9d player but with a pretty solid stat of 325 wins and 156 losses. I almost bet on him for his nice Fate//Stay Night avatar :). He has played in the Tongyang, an online Tygem tournament, but hasn't gotten past the prelims. Both players have done excellently in their 20 most recent games, eligible to upgrade to the next rank if there were any.
Also, this game is VERY humorous (to me at least) because the opening mimics a pro game that was played merely hours ago (can you guess? :)). I say "mimic" because it is slightly different from the actual pro game but enough to tell that these players saw the big game ;).
This was a casual time setting game with 30sx3 byoyomi. Betting favored ocean 64%-36% for the first 50 moves and 75%-25% 30 moves after that.
